The Story
The Martin 000-18 WG Woody Guthrie pays tribute to one of America’s most influential songwriters with a beautifully crafted 000-style acoustic that captures the simplicity, spirit, and storytelling power of Woody’s music. Built with a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, this guitar delivers the warm midrange, quick response, and articulate clarity that define the classic 000 sound. Its comfortable 14-fret Grand Auditorium body makes it equally suited for fingerstyle playing, flatpicking, and vocal accompaniment, offering a balanced tone that supports both light touch and dynamic strumming.
Elegant vintage appointments complete the instrument’s traditional aesthetic, including tortoise binding, a three-ring rosette, an ebony fingerboard, and Woody Guthrie’s signature inlaid at the 20th fret. The tapered headstock features an old-style Martin decal and nickel butterbean tuners for period-correct charm. Each guitar from this limited run includes an interior label signed by Arlo Guthrie, Nora Guthrie, Harold Leventhal, and C.F. Martin IV, making it a meaningful collector’s piece as well as a stage-ready performer. Built between 1999 and 2001, the 000-18 WG blends history, craftsmanship, and musical authenticity into a soulful, inspiring acoustic.
This 2000-built guitar is in great condition, with only minor playwear and a few small lacquer-level dings to the top and headstock, light pick scratches on the pickguard and light lacquer scratches on the back of the guitar - overall it's very clean for it's age, and plays beautifully. The action is a perfect buzz-free medium height with room to lower more if you prefer, and the tone is just as you'd expect - woody, warm and sweet, with an intimate and soulful voice. Includes original hardshell case.
