This 1966 Martin 00-21 is a superb example of Martin’s mid-’60s craftsmanship, pairing a responsive Sitka spruce top with highly sought-after Brazilian rosewood back and sides. The 00 body size offers an ideal balance of clarity, warmth, and projection, with a focused low end and shimmering trebles that suit fingerstyle, blues, folk, and light flatpicking equally well. With its long-standing association with legendary players, the 00-21 has earned a reputation as one of Martin’s most musical and expressive small-body designs.
Professionally maintained and thoughtfully serviced, this guitar has undergone a neck reset by Brian West at Fretco including replacement bone nut and saddle. Retaining its original Waverly WG-31 tuners and benefiting from Brazilian rosewood not only on the back and sides but also the fretboard and bridge, this instrument delivers a rich, complex voice with exceptional depth. As you'd expect from an instrument of this age, it has plenty of wear and patina, including lacquer crazing throughout and a small ding repair to the top. It plays beautifully, with a low buzz-free action and plenty of fret life left. The sound is gorgeous - dripping with overtones and harmonic complexity, and a warm and rich tone that makes it hard to put down. Complete with a luxurious Calton flight case, this is a highly desirable vintage Martin that combines historical significance, premium tonewoods, and outstanding sound.
